PAR Bulbs
PAR bulbs are reflector lamps with a hard glass or molded face that produce a more directed beam than BR bulbs. They are used in track lighting, recessed cans that highlight displays or artwork, and outdoor flood fixtures. Listed options include Hyperikon PAR20 and PAR30 bulbs and an LED PAR38.
PAR20, PAR30 and PAR38
The number is the bulb's diameter in eighths of an inch, so PAR20 is the smallest and PAR38 the largest. Smaller PAR20 bulbs fit compact track heads and small recessed cans; PAR30 is common in track and recessed retail lighting; PAR38 is often used in larger cans and outdoor flood holders. Match the size your fixture already uses.
PAR or BR?
Choose PAR where you want a focused pool of light on merchandise, menus or artwork. Choose BR where you want a softer, wider spread for general lighting in cans. For exterior holders, confirm the bulb is suitable for damp or wet locations.
