Emergency Lights
Emergency lights switch on automatically when normal power fails, lighting exit paths so people can leave a building safely. They are typically battery-backed fixtures installed in corridors, stairwells, exits and large open areas.

Common locations include:
- Corridors, hallways and stairwells
- Exit doors and exterior exit discharge areas
- Warehouses, retail floors and other large open spaces
- Restrooms, mechanical rooms and electrical rooms
Indoor and outdoor units
Indoor emergency lights are commonly wall-mounted units with adjustable heads. Outdoor and damp-location units are built to light the path outside exit doors. Emergency lights can also be combined with an exit sign in one fixture.
Code and testing
Emergency lighting requirements are set by local building and fire codes, and units need periodic testing to confirm the batteries still work. We can review your layout with you, but final requirements should be confirmed with your local code official.
