Flood Lights

LED flood lights throw a wide, aimable beam over a yard, a building face, a sign or a dark corner of a property. Unlike wall packs, which light the area right around a wall, flood lights are aimed at the area you want to see, so they are often used for security and accent lighting.

The fixture currently listed is the LED Security Light SES-HG70-30W, which combines a motion sensor and photocell. Other flood light options can be quoted for larger areas.

Selection considerations

Start with what needs to be lit and from where the fixture can be mounted. Beam spread decides how wide an area one fixture covers, and aiming decides where the light lands, so fixtures should be pointed away from neighbors and drivers. Controls make a large difference outdoors: a photocell turns lights on at dusk, and a motion sensor lights an area only when someone is there, which suits low-traffic security spots.

For general area lighting over a parking lot, pole-mounted shoebox fixtures usually give more even coverage than flood lights mounted on a building.
